2 killed, Others Injured As Hoodlums Raids Mushin

Two persons have been reportedly killed, while 14 others were injured as some hoodlums went on the rampage at Idi Iroko, Mushin area of Lagos, last Friday.

It is gathered that the hoodlums unleashed terror on the residents after a notorious kingpin allegedly instigated some street urchins because of N1b million which was paid over a land in the area.

One of the victims simply identified as Eniiba was shot dead on Wednesday when the fracas started, while another victim, who is yet to be identified, was killed on Saturday.

The hoodlums, who were seen brandishing weapons such as cutlasses, sticks and guns, took advantage of the situation to loot shops, break into houses and molest residents.

According to an eyewitness Mrs. Oladapo, one of the residents in the area, the victims were shot during the brawl.
“The unfortunate thing is that while the crisis was ongoing, they looted shops, broke into houses and even molested residents. It was a scary experience. Government should do something quick. Violence here is becoming a recurring decimal.” She said:
Efforts by the Policemen attached to Alakara Division to curtail the mayhem yielded little or no result.

Contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said: “Nobody was killed, two suspects were rather arrested in connection with the skirmish. Normalcy has been restored to the area.”
