Shiite Members Storm National Assembly, Shoot Security Operatives

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, otherwise known as Shiite, have on Tuesday wreak havoc in the National Assembly complex, gunning two officers of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The Shiite members who had in their hundreds stormed the complex, resorted to violence when security operatives shot gas-cannisters to disperse them.

Aside from the attack, the group destroyed three vehicles and other assembly properties.

As at the time of filing this report, Assembly gates have been locked, movement restricted.

Buhari Suspends Ruga Settlement Project

After a meeting with the governor's forum, President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Ruga settlement scheme.

The settlement proposal which has met vehement rejection by Nigerians the past few days was, according to the government, intended to settle the recurrent clash between herdsmen and farmers in Nigeria.

The suspension, President Buhari said, remains until a more nationally acceptable approach is provided.

Senator Elisha Abbo In Trouble As Senate Sets Up Committee To Probe Him Over Assault

A Nigerian senator who assaulted a sales girl might be in trouble following the decision of the senate to probe him.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan on Wednesday set up a committee to probe the alleged assault of a young lady by Senator Elias Abbo.

 

The senator was seen in a video that has gone viral, assaulting the lady.

 

The committee has two weeks to submit its report.

 

It was not clear whether Abbo, who has promised to give a comprehensive response to the video today, will still go ahead, in view of the committee set up to probe the incident.

Biodun Fatoyinbo Takes Pulpit Break

Following rape allegations and consequent protests, senior pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun Fatoyinbo, who in recent times have been a household name on the news for speculations about his character, is set to take a leave of absence from the church's pulpit.

Biodun who made the disclosure on his official Instagram handle, said that having sought counsel from the church's leadership and other Christian mentors of his, it is his decision to take a break from ministry in the capacity of a pastor.

Although it breaks his heart to take a break from the role, Biodun added, he assures of his faith in God while encouraging other Christians of the COZA congregation to remain steadfast.
