Official: Szczesny joins Roma on loan
The goalkeeper lost his place in the Arsenal starting line-up at the turn of the year and, following the arrival of Petr Cech, has been allowed to spend the season in Serie A
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has joined Roma on a season-long loan deal.
The 25-year-old lost his place in the Gunners' first team after being caught smoking in the dressing room following the 2-0 loss to Southampton on New Year's Day, with David Ospina's fine form keep him out of the starting XI.
The arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea in an £11 million deal has pushed Szczesny further down the pecking order and he will now spend the 2015-16 campaign away from the Emirates Stadium.
Szczesny has not turned out for the Gunners in the Premier League since the incident at Southampton, although Arsene Wenger has previously gone on record to deny the goalkeeper was dropped as a result of his misdemeanour.
However, the Poland international was retained for the majority of the club's run to the FA Cup final, starting in five of the club's six games as they won at Wembley for the second consecutive season.
