#MondayGear: 4 Tips To Becoming Independent

Sometimes we make mistakes, and we usually need someone to help us. But there are times that we need to stay strong on our own.

Being too dependent on people may turn into a problem, because when those people aren’t there, what else can you do?
Here are four simple tips on how to be more independent. Enjoy!
Work Hard
In life, we’re not always going to get everything handed to us. I really don’t know how to emphasize this point enough. No matter who you are, you have to work hard to achieve your goals.
Try putting your best effort in everything you do, even small things like, getting ready for a new day or bigger things like getting your daily goals accomplished.
Not only are you putting your best effort, you’ll also feel more confident and productive.
Celebrate Small Accomplishments
There is a popular quote that says, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” I used to cherish only my big accomplishments but then I realized that the smaller ones are also as important. No matter how small you might think it is, celebrate it!
If you can accomplish and celebrate small goals, you can definitely accomplish big goals.
Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
Little by little, try to move out of your comfort zone but at the same time stop trying to do what other people are doing and start doing what makes you comfortable.
Most of us find it difficult to say no, if you are asked to do something that puts you in a very uncomfortable situation or do something that does not fit your personal beliefs, don’t be afraid to say no.
Remember the goal is to be independent of what other people think about you.
Love Yourself
Some people especially women neglect this tip. And I think this is due to the fact that as women, we are trained to do what makes our family and society happy, NOT ourselves. Or sometimes we can also be too busy that we forget to take care of ourselves.
That being said, if you are a woman and you are in a relationship, you should learn to love yourself first. Contrary to what we have been taught to love the man first.
Think about it, how can you give what you don’t have? If you don’t love yourself, how can you love another person? Sometimes, that same man you claim you love may wake up one day and cheat on you or worse leave you without any explanation. Guess whom you have left? Yourself. So if you haven’t loved yourself all this while, how do you deal with the break-up? Not saying that loving yourself makes you numb to what is happening, but it helps you to move on quickly. You will be self-assured that you are worthy of a better man.
If you love yourself first, then you can see the why a man should fit in your life’s plan not the other way round.
