Niger declares public holiday for PVC collection

The Niger State Government has declared a two-day holiday in the state to enable residents collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC).

The government announced that Thursday, February 5 and Friday, 6 will be work-free days to allow for ease of collection of PVCs from the requisite authorities.

INEC Explains Why Fashola, Sultan of Sokoto don’t have PVCs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has explained why the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar and the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola have not yet been issued Permanent Voters Cards (PVC).

INEC stated on Monday, February 2, through its Deputy Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Nick Dazang that the Sultan and Fashola had not yet gotten voters cards because of data loss from some of the commission’s machines.

Dazang stated further, during a one-day workshop held for journalists in Kaduna, that the data loss had resulted in a loss of the fingerprint records of some Nigerians.
