Gunmen abduct traditional ruler, four boat passengers in Rivers Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the traditional ruler of Ikuru town in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRM Aarom Ikuru. 

The palace spokesperson, Mr Maurice Ikuru, who confirmed the incident on Monday morning, February 22, said the monarch was kidnapped at about 8:30 to 9pm on Sunday, February 21.

 

Meanwhile, spokesperson of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, disclosed that some boat travellers, including a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, who were returning to Port Harcourt from Andoni were kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be pirates. 

 

"I can confirm that some persons who were coming back from Andoni were ambushed and kidnapped. Investigation is on-going to get the details,” Omoni stated.
