Students enrolled for the recently introduced fully-online Bachelors and Master’s Degree programs at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, are not inferior to others in the regular programs, the institution's management has said.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Bamitale Omole, assured the pioneer students that the programme is equal in terms of lecture delivery and the certificates that will be issued completion of the respective programmes are the same.
"I want to assure you that your distant learning mode of admission does not in any way imply inferiority in status, compared to our conventional students, either in terms of lecture delivery or the certificates you receive at the end of your programmes," Omole said during the maiden matriculation of the programme.
Omole said the institution is dedicated to ensuring the integrity of its degrees and diplomas irrespective of whether it is obtained in the conventional or distance learning mode.
"Hence your various curricula have gone through the usual high standards of excellence of the University Senate for which Obafemi Awolowo University is well known."
OAU's e-Learning programme is organised through its Centre for Distance Learning (CDL).
Students enrolled under the CDL E-Learning program will be able to learn towards their various degrees from their respective locations, equipped with a VigiTab, internet enabled study tablets that are preloaded with text-based and multi-media lecture materials with offline access.
The first sets of students were admitted in Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science and Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting programmes.
